Somayaki ware, originating from the Soma region of Fukushima Prefecture, is characterized by its distinctive crackled glaze known as
'Hira-haku!' This technique involves applying a thick layer of glaze that intentionally cracks during the firing process, creating a unique and visually appealing texture. The sets often feature intricate designs and are highly prized by collectors for their craftsmanship and cultural significance.
This beautiful vintage Japanese sake set includes 10 pieces total: 8 cups and 2 serving bottles. Each piece is finished with a striking celadon crackle glaze and intricate gold detailing, including decorative motifs on the cups and bottles. The cups feature cutout designs with textured brown bases, while the inside of some pieces displays an elegant gold horse or calligraphic art.
